Erotic Art?
Today I received an invitation from a person who found me on Deviantart, to take part in a juried competition about erotic art.
It was fun because I don’t think my works are oriented towards the subject of eros at all. It’s true that I have occasionally painted some nudes, but in my opinion (and intention) they are very innocent nudes, deprived of all erotic content.
I am aware of the fact that some sites consider erotic the sole view of a nipple, no matter the meanings of the image, and that some sites “flag” my website as “mature” (!!! °_°) but in my opinion to characterize an image as “erotic” there should be some other requisites, like a certain type of intention and a certain type of “content”, which I almost haven’t explored at all so far (simply because I was not interested in this “niche” subject, I’m more oriented towards children to be honest).
But well, I’m considering the idea of taking part in the contest with a new, single piece made expressely for this show (if I have time….) but still I’m not sure if it interests me enough.
If you have an opinion, I’d love to hear about it 
hmm i think i agree with you on that, i looked at their site and some of the “erotic art” i saw were to me just artistic photographs of a nude person that did not have this intention behind them. i feel that erotic art to me would have to have an erotic feeling to it, not just depict a nude form. maybe that is subjective and what feels erotic to one person would not feel it to the next person.
but at the same time it seems like this could be an interesting new experience for you, of course if you feel like it. if you don’t feel any passion for it then i wouldn’t do it.
i think i feel pretty much the same way about this as you. you could do it for fun, to be richer in experience, but only if it tickles you.
Thanks Annina, you understood very much my outlook on this. IF I just find the time (which is absolutely not sure) I will try for a change….I don’t feel a passion for this specific field but I feel a passion for painting the human form in general, so it could be fun for once ! ^___^
