Collective Exhibition “La Rivoluzione Differente”

February 26th, 2011

I have just finished two new paintings for an upcoming collective exhibition,  they are titled “From Poison to Medicine” and “Victory” .

The theme of the exhibition, promoted by the town of Poggibonsi, is “The Different Kind of Revolution” (La Rivoluzione Differente) and you will have the chance to see the interesting take on this subject by 16 buddhist artists, all using very different ways of expression.

The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for the 30th of April in Poggibonsi (SI) ~~~ very close to the more famous S.Giminiano, the exhibition will last one week. For the complete list of the artists and further details you can follow the event page where things will be written while they are defined.

My paintings are relatively large (80 x 120 cm), so as usual, details get lost in photo, it’s such a pity. For now I only publish a detail of the second.

Hope to see you there.

PS the paintings will not be for sale at the exhibition but are available for purchase after its closing. Pricing info coming soon.

Custom portraits : Christmas &Launch SALE!

December 7th, 2010

ETSY LISTING – LIMITED OFFER OF 3 PIECES

Finally I have the time to sit down and formulate my offer.

Since it’s Christmas I wanted to take the occasion and offer 3 custom portraits, in smaller scale and also more affordable than those larger and more expensive traditional portraits I am usually commissioned.

Wouldn’t one of those make a great, precious gift ?

The painting is not excessively large, 16 x 20 cm (8 x 6.3 in.), and comes with an elegant plaster frame which I treat to an anticated look.
Seen the size, I think it would fit in almost any home, so one wouldn’t need to worry about where to make place for it.

The first 3 persons interested will have a significant discount on the regular price I’d ask of 250-300 Euros.
The offer is valid until the 25th of December. This is because after this date I will not have time to dedicate to commissions for a few months.

To have a visual reference to look at and have a better idea, please visit my etsy listing. The Portrait I made of Annina’s doll is an example of how the frame and the size will be.

Old and new news

November 19th, 2010

It’s been a long time since I was able to update the website or paint (olive-picking season is traditionally like this).
So I have to show here a couple of “old”-new works, the last thing I’ve been painting before october.
The first one is a piece I’ve made in the same “wave” as Elixir, its title is “Cornucopia” (=horn of abundance), I have not really much to say about it apart from “I hope you enjoy” since I like my paintings to speak for themselves.

The second is a small portrait I have painted of a very beautiful and precious doll called Iðunn, for my friend Annina.

She won the portrait as result of a contest.
But this was also an “experiment” on my side, to see how it would be to work on a portrait in such a smaller size (so far I’ve usually painted larger portraits).
In fact I really enjoyed making it, so I’ve decided to officially offer this portrait format too from now on, whether it be the portrait of a person, a pet, or again, like in this case, a beautiful DOLL.
The size of this one is 16 x 20 cm (=8 x 6.3 in).
It is still oil on canvas, with included a beautiful plaster frame (I treat it to look old).
Yet, being significantly smaller than a “regular” portrait, it is both more affordable for anyone (also as a precious gift) and it is easier as well to find a place to hang it up in any home.

If you are interested, I’m soon going to have a little promotion on my etsy of 3-4 pieces at a discounted “launch” price, so be sure to be back here for the details.

As for news about shows and happenings:

1- it will be possible to see some of my paintings in SIENA (Tuscany, Italy) in December in a small collective exhibition (I will come with more details soonest);

2- I will take part in a collective exhibition in Poggibonsi (SIENA province) with two new large works. This last exhibition’s theme will be “a Different Kind of Revolution” and it will take place around April-May. It is supported by the Comune of Poggibonsi and will be associated with an exhibition promoted by the Italian Buddhist Institute, called SenzAtomica (=”without nuclear” ).

More news to come :)

Lolita

August 15th, 2010

Here is my entry for the Erotic Art Signature.

Lolita

I know, it’s a paradox, she’s less nude than some of my other nudes, but she turned out like this !  I tried to make the difference in the “essence”.

It was interesting to make this piece, but right now I’m very “taken” by another idea, which I hope will soon produce more pieces ;)

Elixir

August 13th, 2010

A new painting was finished last week, it’s the first of a new series I’m working on.
I will write more infos on this series later !

This piece is inspired by a marvellous stock photo (donors exclusive) from my favorite model Ida where she was featuring a renaissance gown, some  decorations I have been working with in the restoration job, and by a book I have read long ago. Even though it was so long ago, the part speaking about the Liquor of the Fairies always enchants me, and comes back to make me dream and want to paint it.

Hope you like it !

Elixir

I have also added a new (provisorial) gallery with all the works from 2010.

Erotic Art?

July 9th, 2010

Today I received an invitation from a person who found me on Deviantart, to take part in a juried competition about erotic art.

It was fun because I don’t think my works are oriented towards the subject of eros at all. It’s true that I have occasionally painted some nudes, but in my opinion (and intention) they are very innocent nudes, deprived of all erotic content.

I am aware of the fact that some sites consider erotic the sole view of a nipple, no matter the meanings of the image, and that some sites “flag” my website as “mature” (!!! °_°) but in my opinion to characterize an image as “erotic” there should be some other requisites, like a certain type of  intention and a certain type of “content”, which I almost haven’t explored at all so far (simply because I was not interested in this “niche” subject, I’m more oriented towards children to be honest).

But well, I’m considering the idea of taking part in the contest with a new, single piece made expressely for this show (if I have time….) but still I’m not sure if it interests me enough.

If you have an opinion, I’d love to hear about it :)
